The MKC Traditions Knives showcase handles crafted from desert ironwood, a material celebrated for its hard, closed grain that repels oil, blood, and water. This ensures the handle stays clean, stable, and free from warping or cracking. We’ve outfitted five of our models – the Blackfoot, the Whitetail, the Stonewall, the Jackstone, and the Super Cub – with these exceptional handles, each paired with a custom sheath from Francesca at Teton Leather.

Every piece of desert ironwood is unique, just like a fingerprint, offering a variety of grain patterns from burly to straight. This means no two knives are alike, giving you a one-of-a-kind tool that is both functional and visually stunning. The ironwood's natural resilience to extreme conditions makes it perfect for hunting knives.

Drop Point Perfection

The Super Cub’s 5″ blade is the ideal drop point shape. The spine — which is about .02″ thicker than our other hunting blades for added strength — slopes down from the handle into the tip.

The Super Cub also has more belly than other drop points, making the tip even more useful. There’s very little this knife can’t do.

I’m a sucker for presentation and MKC team never disappoints. I have to admit I used the knife for first time yesterday while manning the grill and it was awesome. It did what I need it to do and it looked good doing it. Got a lot of complements as well. I know some people might say that that’s not it’s intended use but as we all know life takes over sometimes and I just wanted to use the knife. Thanks again MKC team for another quality knife!
